Man City Crowned Club World Champions
Guardiola's Side Triumph in Jeddah
Alvarez Scores Twice as City Clinch Victory
Manchester City have been crowned FIFA Club World Cup champions for the first time after a convincing 2-1 victory over Fluminense in the final in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Julian Alvarez scored twice for City, either side of a Nino own goal, as Pep Guardiola's side added another trophy to their ever-growing collection.
City dominated the match from the start and took the lead after just seven minutes when Alvarez tapped home from close range. Fluminense equalised in the 33rd minute when Nino deflected a cross into his own net, but City regained the lead just before half-time when Alvarez scored a stunning individual goal.
The second half was a more even affair, but City held on to their lead to secure the victory. The result means that City have now won all six major trophies available to them under Guardiola, including the Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, Community Shield, and UEFA Champions League.
Guardiola was delighted with his team's performance and praised their ability to win in different ways.
"We are very happy to win this trophy," he said. "It is a special moment for us. We have won all six major trophies now, and that is something that is very difficult to do. This team is incredible. We can play in different ways, and we always find a way to win."
