Changes to DHCP in Windows 10

Windows 10 April 2018 Update has updated the DHCP client.

New Vendor Class Identifier

The new Vendor Class Identifier is MSFT 5.0 for Windows computers and dhcpcd-5.5.6 for Android devices.

Vendor-Specific Options

DHCPv4 servers can now send Vendor-specific Options to clients with specific vendor class identifiers.

Enhanced DHCP Discovery

The DHCP client now sends a DHCPDISCOVER message that includes the Vendor Class Identifier.
