Boston's Depth Proves Too Much for Dallas
Luka-Kyrie Duo Falls Short
The Dallas Mavericks' hopes of reaching the NBA Finals were dashed on Thursday night as they fell to the Boston Celtics 124-95 in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals. The Celtics' depth proved to be too much for the Mavericks, who were led by Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.
Doncic and Irving Struggle
Doncic finished with 24 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists, but he shot just 8-of-24 from the field. Irving added 19 points, but he was also inefficient, shooting 7-of-19. The Celtics, on the other hand, had six players score in double figures, led by Jayson Tatum's 26 points.
Celtics' Depth Shines
The Celtics' depth was on full display in Game 7. In addition to Tatum, Jaylen Brown added 24 points, Marcus Smart had 21 points, and Al Horford had 15 points and 15 rebounds. The Mavericks simply couldn't match the Celtics' firepower, and they were eventually overwhelmed.
What's Next?
The Celtics will now advance to the NBA Finals, where they will face the Eastern Conference champion Miami Heat. The Heat are a tough opponent, but the Celtics will be confident in their chances of winning their 18th NBA championship.
